How do I know if my Mac has an Apple chip or an Intel one?

Click the Apple menu at the top left of the screen, then “About This Mac”. If you read “Chip: Apple” (M1, M2, M3, M4…), take the Apple chip version. If you read “Processor: Intel”, take the Intel version.

On Linux, tablets or phones

Nothing to install: SERVO runs in the browser, with exactly the same features.

Open in your browser

Installing SERVO

The app isn't signed by Apple or Microsoft yet, so your computer shows a warning the first time you open it. That's expected, and here is how to get past it.

On Mac

  1. 1

Open the downloaded .dmg file, then drag SERVO into the Applications folder.

  2. 2

Launch SERVO. If macOS says “SERVO is damaged” or “SERVO can't be opened because the developer cannot be verified”, close the message: the app isn't broken, macOS just blocks it because Apple hasn't signed it.

  3. 3

Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal), paste this command with Cmd + V, then press Enter:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/SERVO.app

  4. 4

Launch SERVO again: it now opens normally.

Alternative: right-click SERVO in the Applications folder, then “Open”, then “Open” again in the dialog. If macOS doesn't offer that button, the command above always works.

You only need to do this once. After that, SERVO updates itself.

On Windows

  1. 1

    Run the downloaded .exe file.

  2. 2

If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC” (SmartScreen), click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

  3. 3

Follow the installer, then open SERVO from the Start menu. Later updates happen on their own.

The .msi file is for business deployment (several computers, admin tools). For a single computer, use the .exe.

On first launch

SERVO asks for your shop's name: enter your workspace's subdomain, then sign in with your usual account.

For example: “mdg” for mdg.servo.tools.

What the app brings

  • A dedicated window that doesn't close along with your browser tabs
  • Direct launch from the taskbar or the Dock
  • The same account and the same data as the web version
  • No data stored locally: switching computers loses nothing

Download questions

No. SERVO runs entirely in a browser, on desktop as well as tablet and smartphone. The desktop app mainly adds the comfort of a dedicated window and direct launch, without going through a tab.

The app is useless without an account
